Metal table bases built for commercial floors
Metal is the workhorse of the contract interior. A steel table base absorbs the daily punishment of a busy service floor — chairs pushed against it, cleaning trolleys knocking into it, tables dragged across tiles at closing time — without loosening at the column or deforming at the foot. For most restaurant, cafe and canteen projects, metal is the category we recommend first.
Every model in this range is fabricated in our Istanbul facility from steel, welded and finished in house. Because the base is fabricated rather than cast from a fixed mould, dimensions can be scaled to the table top you are specifying, and finishes can be matched to an interior scheme rather than chosen from a short list.
Metal is the only category we hold in stock. Orders are dispatched within 10 days rather than waiting on a production run — useful when an opening date has already been fixed. See wholesale terms →
Where metal bases work best
- High-turnover restaurants and cafes — where furniture is moved several times a day and finish durability matters more than ornament.
- Hotel breakfast rooms and canteens — large numbers of identical tables, repeat orders over several years, consistent finish across deliveries.
- Bar and poseur height settings — the same column can be produced at bar height without redesigning the base.
- Outdoor terraces under cover — powder coating handles temperature swings and cleaning chemicals better than varnished timber.
Finishes and colour
Powder coating is the standard finish and the most forgiving in commercial use: it resists scuffing, is easy to touch up, and is available in any RAL colour once a code is supplied. Where a project calls for something more decorative, the same base can be produced with chrome, titanium coating, or electroplated gold and bronze. Matte black and bronze remain the two most specified finishes across our European projects.
Specifying a metal base
| Standard height | 71.5 cm — custom and bar heights produced to order |
| Suitable table top | Up to 80 cm round or square as standard; larger tops produced with the base scaled to suit |
| Top weight guide | Approx. 41 kg for an 80 cm marble top at 30 mm thickness |
| Minimum order | 10 units — OEM and custom production from 15 units |
| Lead time | 10 days from stock, 25 working days made to order |
| Export packing | Knock-down on pallets, 100 units per pallet |
Table tops are not manufactured in house but can be sourced on request alongside the bases, so a project can be delivered as a complete table rather than two separate purchases.
A note on proportion
Metal bases will structurally carry more than the sizes quoted above. The practical limit is visual rather than mechanical: past roughly 90 cm the base begins to look undersized beneath the top, and the table reads as unbalanced even though it is perfectly stable. Where a larger top is unavoidable we scale the base plate accordingly — tell us the top size at enquiry stage and we will quote the base that suits it.
