Design table bases: the widest range in the catalogue

Sixty models sit in this range, more than any other category and close to half of everything we make. The other categories are defined by their material. This one is defined by intent: these are the bases specified when the table is meant to be looked at rather than looked past.

Because the range is fabricated rather than cast, dimensions can be scaled to the top being specified, heights can be produced to order including bar height, and the full finish range is available. In practice this is the category where a project brief that says “something not off the shelf” gets answered.

Where design bases work best

  • Signature restaurants — where the furniture is part of the review, not just the seating plan.
  • Hotel lobbies and lounges — low tables, occasional tables, and settings photographed for the hotel’s own marketing.
  • Retail and showroom interiors — display tables that have to hold their own against the product on them.
  • Projects with a design narrative — where an FF&E schedule has been written by a designer rather than a purchasing department.

How to narrow sixty models down

Sixty options is a lot to scroll through, so specifiers usually work in this order:

  • Start with the top. Diameter and material determine the footprint you need before anything else.
  • Then the footprint type. A slim column suits tight covers and maximises legroom; a spread or cross base gives stability under larger tops but eats floor space.
  • Then the finish. Matte black and bronze read as contemporary; chrome and electroplated gold read as decorative.
  • Then send us the shortlist. Tell us the top size and the venue type and we will tell you which of your shortlist we would actually put on that floor.

Finish and colour

The full range is available here: powder coating in any RAL colour, chrome, titanium coating, and electroplated gold or bronze. Because these bases are often specified as a visible element rather than a structural one, finish choice carries more weight in this category than anywhere else in the catalogue.

Custom and OEM production

This is the category where custom work is most often requested, and our threshold is low: OEM and bespoke production start at 15 units. That is deliberately far below the industry norm, because a designer with one restaurant and forty covers should not have to order five hundred bases to get the base the room needs. Send a drawing or a reference image and we will quote against it. Talk to us about a custom base →
