Stainless steel table bases for wet and demanding environments
Stainless steel is specified for one reason: everywhere else corrodes. Salt air, chlorine, standing water, daily washdown with commercial chemicals — these conditions strip powder coating and rust ordinary steel from the inside of the tube outward, long before anything is visible on the surface. Stainless removes that failure mode.
Like our metal range, these bases are fabricated rather than moulded, so dimensions can be scaled to the table top being specified and the same model can be produced at bar height without a redesign.
Where stainless steel earns its cost
- Coastal and seaside terraces — salt air is relentless and reaches further inland than most specifiers expect.
- Pool and spa areas — chlorine attacks coated steel at the fixings first, where nobody inspects.
- Commercial kitchens and serveries — washdown cleaning and hygiene requirements make stainless the default.
- Open-air venues — beach clubs, rooftop bars, anywhere furniture stays out through a season.
Finish and colour
Stainless can be left as bare metal or finished the same way as our steel range: powder coating in any RAL colour, chrome, titanium coating, or electroplated gold and bronze. Where a base is genuinely exposed to weather we usually recommend keeping the stainless visible — any coating is a layer that can eventually fail, and the material underneath does not need protecting.

A word on cost
Stainless carries a higher unit price than powder-coated steel, and for a dry indoor dining room it is money spent on a property you will never use. Specify it where the environment demands it and use standard metal bases everywhere else. Most of the projects we supply do exactly that: stainless on the terrace, powder-coated steel inside.
