Cast iron table bases with weight where it matters
Cast iron is the oldest solution in this catalogue and still the most stable. The mass sits low and the footprint is generous, so the table resists the slow rocking that lighter bases develop once a floor is not perfectly level — which, in an old building, it never is. If a project has uneven tiles, worn timber boards, or a terrace laid to fall, cast iron is the honest answer.
These bases are cast from fixed moulds rather than fabricated. That carries a real trade-off, and it works in both directions. The size cannot be scaled to a particular table top. But the consistency is absolute: the two hundredth casting is identical to the first, which matters when a chain reorders the same model three years after the original fit-out.
Where cast bases work best
- Bistros and brasseries — the profile belongs to that vocabulary and needs no justification to a designer.
- Heritage and listed interiors — where contemporary metalwork would fight the room.
- High-traffic floors — the weight is a feature, not a shipping problem, once the base is in place.
- Covered terraces — powder-coated cast iron handles outdoor conditions provided it is not standing in water.
Finish and colour
Cast bases are finished in powder coating only. Chrome and electroplated finishes are not applied to this range — the casting surface does not take them consistently, and we would rather restrict the option than deliver a variable finish across a large order. Powder coating is available in any RAL colour. Matte black and antique bronze tones are the two most specified across our European projects.

Why we cap the top size
Because the base is a fixed casting, it cannot grow with the table top. Beyond roughly 80 cm the top overhangs too far for the footprint and the table starts to feel top-heavy at the edge — a diner leaning on the rim notices it. If your project needs tops larger than 80 cm, specify a fabricated metal base instead, where the footprint can be scaled to match.
